Support Worker Job Description

As a Support Worker, you will be providing support to vulnerable adults and children in residential settings, promoting the rights and independence of each service user in various settings including supported living, care homes, community hospitals and home care.

You will assist with everyday tasks and ensure the service users needs are met physically, socially and emotionally.  Working closely with core staff and external agencies you will build positive relationships and enable the residents to meet their full potential inside the home and out in the community.

Ideally you will have the following experience and training:

  • PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
  • Hoist
  • Manual moving and handling

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for residents to live and you to work
  • Attend and take an active part in events, activities and meetings
  • Follow care/support plans and risk assessments
  • Promote equality and acknowledge individuals needs and differences
  • Provide physical support with personal care including washing, dressing, drinking and general mobility
  • Encourage the development of personal skills through recreational activities and hobbies
  • Write accurate reports and keep up to date with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all care needs are met to the highest standard

Requirements:

  • Valid enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain a new one **- fees apply
  • Full Driving Licence is preferred for this role
  • Right to Work in UK
  • Covid Pass (double vaccinated)
  • Be aged 18 or over in line with national minimum standards

Please note: To work in a CQC registered care/residential home from 11th November 2021 it is a requirement that the post holder is fully vaccinated against Covid-19 unless medically exempt.
